Then alloy which doesn't help much (armor item) then straight to carapace. On my current Impossible and on my Classic beforehand, I researched weapon frags first (for SCOPE), then xeno for arc thrower, I didn't bother building a containment, i just wanted to get guns. That means you can't just take the rewards you want, you have to check how many countrys will go full panic depending on which abduction you take.
